Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi Inspects “WOTA BOX” Installed at Evacuation Center Following the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake
WOTA extends its heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake.
Upon receiving an official request from Kumamoto Prefecture, WOTA has been deploying its Portable Water-Regeneration System “WOTA BOX” to maintain hygienic conditions in the disaster-affected areas, pursuant to the “Agreement on Wide-Area Mutual Aid for Equipment and Materials for Daily-Use Water in Times of Disasters.”
On Monday, August 3, 2026, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi visited an evacuation center in Hikawa Town to inspect the installed “WOTA BOX” units.
With the cooperation of the national government, municipalities, partner companies, and other stakeholders across Japan, WOTA will continue to expand bathing and handwashing support in water outage areas and help ensure hygienic conditions for all those affected by the disaster.
WOTA sincerely hopes for the swift recovery of the affected communities and will devote its full efforts to ongoing relief activities.
About the Portable Water-Regeneration System “WOTA BOX”
“WOTA BOX” is a water-regeneration shower system that secures access to bathing facilities even during water outages. It can be transported directly to necessary locations—such as evacuation centers, medical facilities, and welfare centers affected by large-scale disasters—and set up on-site to immediately provide shower access.
Utilizing autonomous water treatment control technology, the system regenerates and recycles up to 98%* of wastewater. With just 100 liters of water, it enables approximately 100 people to take individual showers. By repeatedly recycling precious water, it delivers cleanliness and warmth to many.
Furthermore, prolonged communal living in evacuation centers often leads to cumulative physical and emotional exhaustion. By creating a private space where individuals can take a warm shower without concern for their surroundings, the system provides affected residents with a comforting sense of relief.
