WOTA Signs Grant Agreement with United Nations Industrial Development Organization(UNIDO)

WOTA Team

– Launches Region-wide Demonstration Project for Small-Scale Decentralized Water Recycling Systems in the Caribbean –

WOTA Corp. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Yosuke Maeda; hereinafter “WOTA”) has signed a Grant Agreement on May 21, 2026, to accelerate a region-wide demonstration of small-scale, decentralized water recycling systems in the Caribbean under the “Industrial Cooperation Programme in the Global South Through Technology Transfer From Japan” implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

UNIDO is conducting the programme “Industrial cooperation programme in the Global South through technology transfer from Japan” to promote technological innovation, strengthen supply chains and establish industrial infrastructure in Global South countries by supporting Japanese companies in conducting large-scale demonstrations, funded by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Government of Japan.

Under this Programme, WOTA’s large-scale demonstration of decentralized water recycling systems in the Caribbean has been officially selected. This demonstration aims to deploy our residential water regeneration system, “WOTA Unit”, and establish its operational model across the region, with a primary focus on Antigua and Barbuda as well as Barbados.

WOTA develops Decentralized Water Recycling Systems that enable water purification and reuse within a standalone onsite unit, without relying on conventional water supply and sewerage infrastructure. The WOTA Unit purifies up to 97% (※) of household wastewater—from bathrooms, kitchens, laundry, and other domestic uses—into safe, reusable water, enabling water reuse without connection to conventional water and sewerage networks. The system is designed to supplement any water shortages with rainwater or other sources, allowing for flexible implementation suited to regional conditions regardless of the condition or level of development of existing infrastructure.
※The recycling rate may vary depending on the usage environment and water utilization methods.

WOTA will continue to contribute to regions facing water infrastructure challenges through the sustainable management of water resources.
