WOTA Raises Series C Funding to Advance Structural Solutions to Global Water Challenges
WOTA Corp. (Representative Director and CEO: Yosuke Maeda; hereinafter “WOTA”), a company committed to tackling water issues through structural solutions, has raised a Series C financing through a third-party allotment of shares and convertible equity, with participation from 12 corporate investors and individual investors. The company plans to secure additional funding going forward.

By 2030, it is estimated that 40% of the global population will face water scarcity(1). At the same time, fiscal challenges related to water and wastewater utilities are becoming increasingly apparent, particularly in developed countries, making water issues a serious global social challenge. To fundamentally address these issues, there is an urgent need to establish a new standard for sustainable water infrastructure that can flexibly adapt to water scarcity and demographic change. Against this backdrop, in July 2025, WOTA launched the “Water 2040 Fund,” a fund to support the introduction of a decentralized water-regeneration system for municipalities across Japan that face challenges such as population decline and aging pipeline infrastructure. The initiative aims to rebuild water infrastructure through a “best mix” approach that appropriately combines conventional centralized systems with decentralized systems. WOTA has begun providing mid- to long-term support for the end-to-end processes required to introduce decentralized systems, including planning, budgeting, implementation, and operation and maintenance. In December, in preparation for potential national-crisis–level disasters (2) that may cause prolonged water outages, WOTA established JWAD (Japan Water Association for Disaster), an organization that operates a wide-area mutual aid platform for disaster response. In collaboration with disaster management authorities and medical institutions across Japan, JWAD seeks to strengthen systems for securing essential domestic water supplies that protect hygiene and human dignity, while building a framework for inter-municipal mutual support utilizing water-regeneration systems.
To pass sustainable water infrastructure on to the next generation, WOTA will continue to promote technological demonstration and commercialization of small-scale decentralized water recycling systems, accelerating structural solutions to water challenges in Japan and around the world.

[About WOTA Corp.]
WOTA is a private company aiming to provide structural solutions to water-related problems.
Since its founding in 2014, to address issues arising from the uneven distribution, depletion, and pollution of the planet’s water resources, WOTA has been developing “small-scale decentralized water-regeneration systems,” which regenerate and maximize the use of domestic wastewater, and the “autonomous water-treatment control technologies” that enable them. WOTA has already launched two products, contributing to emergency water use during water outages in disasters and to improvements in public health. WOTA has also developed a “household water-circulation system” that enables everyday water use, and has begun water supply services in select areas both in Japan and overseas.
