INFORMATION

On January 29 (local time), WOTA delivered a presentation at the Cabinet meeting of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, located in the eastern Caribbean. During the session, we introduced our small-scale decentralized water recycling system for residential use and provided an overview of our ongoing demonstration project in the country.

Additionally, on February 4 (local time), we had the honor of welcoming Prime Minister The Hon. Gaston Browne and members of the Cabinet to our R&D facility in Antigua and Barbuda, where we conducted a live demonstration and explanation of the system in operation.

About Antigua and Barbuda
Antigua and Barbuda is an island nation in the eastern Caribbean, part of the Commonwealth, with its capital in St. John’s. It has a population of approximately 93,000 (2023, World Bank data), and tourism and service industries account for nearly half of its GDP.
The country is one of the most water-scarce nations in the Caribbean, with a total renewable water resource of only 566.3 m³ per capita per year, close to the 500 m³ threshold that the FAO classifies as “absolute water scarcity”. Currently, about 95% of the island’s water supply comes from seawater desalination. Furthermore, groundwater, which serves as a primary source during the dry season, is steadily declining due to pollution from wastewater and climate change, raising concerns about worsening water shortages in the future.
