INFORMATION

WOTA has won the Excellence Award in the ESG category at the “Sustainable Japan Award 2024” hosted by The Japan Times.

This award recognizes companies, organizations, and individuals for their advanced and sustainable initiatives, as well as their long-term efforts, and aims to publicize their achievements both domestically and internationally.
The award ceremony was held on Friday, October 25th, and was attended by our CEO, Maeda.

Reasons for WOTA’s Award:

WOTA aims to create a “small-scale decentralized water recycling society” where everyone can continue to use safe water every day without burdening the global environment or future generations. By reusing limited water resources repeatedly within each household, this approach becomes sustainable both environmentally and economically. To achieve this, WOTA has developed “small-scale decentralized water recycling systems” that enable the recycling and reuse of wastewater.

In contrast to conventional water and sewage systems that draw water from natural sources and discharge treated wastewater into rivers and oceans, WOTA has devised a circular water usage model. This model considers wastewater as the closest water source, treating it on-site for reuse as domestic water. Through proprietary technology centered on autonomous control of water treatment using sensors and data science, WOTA has achieved remote, real-time monitoring and management of water quality.

Even in situations where water and sewage systems are disrupted due to disasters, this technology allows for continued water use without the worry of water outages. During the Noto Peninsula Earthquake in January, WOTA deployed approximately 100 “WOTA BOX” water-recycling showers and 200 “WOSH” handwashing stands to water-scarce areas on the Noto Peninsula starting from January 4th. This effort covered about 84% of evacuation centers experiencing long-term water outages.
